Welcome to the Studio Symphony Orchestra's 78th season!
We are looking forward to getting our season underway in the Island Arts Centre (Island Hall) in Lisburn on Saturday 18th October at 7.30pm. Our “From the New World” concert will be a great night out for the whole family.
We invite you to take a musical journey through North and South America, and enjoy a diverse range of music and styles. The effervescent Latin rhythms of Marquez’s exuberant Danzon No.2 and the sultry Libertango by Astor Piazzolla contrast with Barber’s famous Adagio for Strings and Dvorak’s ever popular ‘New World’ symphony, inspired by his experiences and observations during his time in the United States. Lots of well known repertoire to enjoy in this journey across two continents!
Copland - Fanfare for the Common Man
Marquez - Danzon No.2
Barber - Adagio for Strings
Sousa - The Liberty Bell
Piazzolla - Libertango
Dvorak - Symphony No.9 'New World'
Our guest conductor will be Paul McCusker and we are delighted that Zuzanna Edmonds returns for her third season as our professional leader.
We do hope you will be able to join us for what promises to be a wonderful evening of music making. Tickets are already selling quickly so please don’t delay if you do wish to attend this concert.
